Share your love for Flow and inspire others to learn a new skill that will most likely change their life!
We have seen soo many people find their own flow, many of them continuing to help others find theirs, every chance they get. So if you have something to share, listen up because this competition is just for you!
With a prize valued at R4500 it is definitely worth the effort of making a few videos, doing something you love, and probably inspiring a bunch of people!
Following our philosophy of: “The more connections we make, the more everything will flow”, we would like to offer this platform to South African Flow Artists out there, to connect and share the love of flow with as many people as we can.
To make it fun and interesting we have selected some themes for the entries and starting off in the month of love, we thought it appropriate to theme February’s entries “Love is in the air”.
The competition entries are open until 22:00 on the 5th of March and the winner will be announced on our website on Sunday the 6th of May 2018.
The Prize
There will only be 1 winner, and the prize consists of:
- A Connect and Flow voucher valued at R1000
- A Flow DNA voucher valued at R1000
- A photo shoot to add to your portfolio from Manipulating Light valued at R2000
- Gain performance experience with Connect and Flow and join the crew for one of their Winter Festival Fire performances
2 Runners up each get a Connect and Flow voucher valued at R500

What you’ll need:
- You and your flow toy. (This could be a long list so to keep it simple we are generalizing as per a definition of “Flow Arts” from The Flow Arts Institute.)
- A camera or phone to record your video.
- Editing software or a friend that can help you put it all together.
- A YouTube/Vimeo account where you can post your video.
- Go to the Entry Form to submit your entry. You will have to register and create an account on our website and submit your first entry by 22:00 on the 2nd of March 2018. You will receive a registration email from us to confirm your entry. The email will also have instructions on how to submit your next video. (Everyone goes through to Round 2!)
- All videos’ should be a minimum of 2 minutes and no longer than 3 minutes. A link to the video (on YouTube or Vimeo) must be submitted to us on the day of entry for that month. (See Nitty Gritty)

Video Submission dates:
2 MarchDeadline extended to Monday, 5 March at 10pm – February’s entry video is themed: “Love is in the air” and is submitted via the entry form on our website.- 14 March – First round scores released (everyone goes through to round 2)
- 28 March – 2nd video submission cut off – March theme is “Elements”
- 11 April – Second round scores released (Top 4 goes through to round 3)
- 25 April – 3rd and final video submission cut off – Performance week (Open Theme – whatever you want!)
- 6 May – Winner announced on our Website!

The Judges
We have some amazing Judges who have volunteered to help us out with making sure the selection process is fair. Below is some information on each of them:
Steven is probably one of the most known flow artists in the Cape Town area. Our own local Flow celebrity! If you’ve met Steven you’ll know all about his extensive collection of flow toys. Last time we checked it was around 22 unique different toys! Steven has also graciously offered a Photo shoot through Manipulating Light for the winner – valued at R2000!
Originally from Baltimore, Tippy came to South Africa as an Exchange Student who brought a whole new influence to the local flow artists. When she came back to Port Elizabeth in another exchange programme in 2016, she started up The Port Elizabeth Circus Society and weekly spin jams are still happening at Happy Valley. She plays with hoops, fans, double staff and a whole lot more.
These two people are just absolutely inspirational to anyone that knows them. Travelling Asia and sharing the love of flow through working with kids and performing all over, they are an example to us all! You can read more about their travels and experiences on their website here.
